About us

Coal City USA Nebraska chapter started its operations in a rather informal way in January 2020 and received chapter status in June 2020. Coal City USA Nebraska chapter aim to mobilizing Nebraskans to strengthen their communities through volunteering, collaboration, and donations to support the people in need.
In Nebraska, the federal poverty threshold is $24,339 for a family of four with two children. Children living in families with incomes below the federal poverty threshold are referred to as poor. But research suggests that, on average, families need an income of about twice the federal poverty threshold to meet their basic needs.

Discovery

According to Coal City USA Nebraska chapter volunteer’s statistics, there are 235,869 families with 457,591 children. 9% (29,087) of children, under age 6, live in poor families. 14% (43,864) of children, age 6 or older, live in poor families. The poverty rate in Nebraska is 12.0%. One out of every 8.4 residents of Nebraska lives in poverty. The Poverty Rate of Nebraska is meaningfully lower than the national average of 14.6%.

Our Program

CCU Nebraska chapter programs are designed to further our mission and provide much needed service to the local community and less privileges. We aim to organize fundraiser to help us raise awareness and generate crucial resources to serve the people that mostly in need.
We pledge also supports the area schools with school supplies every year. We are able to help and provide hundreds of school supplies that help the children in the community.

Responsibility

We aim to provide support to the children through donations of warm clothing, personal items, hand warmers, and our monthly donation of Outreach Bags (known as “CHOP Bags”!) Each bag includes a peanut butter & jelly sandwich (heavy on the peanut butter), a granola bar, raisins, and chips.

Requirements

Further in our programs to supporting the needy in Nebraska City with response to natural or human made disasters, the chapter members of CCU aim to collect hygiene, school, and cleaning kits for distribution within the United States. Kits help sustain everyday life for people who lack ready access to essential supplies when a disaster strikes.

Accountability

CCU Nebraska chapter strives to show love to each other and our neighbors in Lexington, Crete, Norfolk area, and throughout the world.
